Campus bikes and cycling
Carrier bikes
Carrier bikes can be borrowed by Aalto personnel and all student events on Otaniemi campus.
Borrowing carrier bikes:
- From Dipoli, Otakaari 24, lobby (reception@aalto.fi) against signature. From the lobby you will receive the key of the bike, a helmet and a pump if needed. You can borrow the bike for more than one day, but remember to mention this when borrowing the bike, and also ensure the proper locking of the bike.
- From Väre, Otaniementie 14, lobby against signature (keys, helmet, rain jacket and a pump if needed)
The carrier bikes are in use from spring to fall, and stored during winter.
City bikes
Otaniemi also has its own city bike stations. Check the city bike website for more information about the service:
Bike maintenance points
At these self-service work stands anyone can maintain a bike for free!
Aalto University has one BFIX work stand in the front of A Blanc (Otakaari 27). The maintenance point contain the equipment necessary for servicing a bicycle – pump station, maintenance stand and toolkit, and a QR code to a mobile guide. Using the work stand is free to anyone using a bike. Smaller, different kind of maintenance point is located in the front of Learning Centre (Otaniementie 9).
Shower facilities and dressing rooms
In the campus buildings, there are various shower and dressing room facilities for commuting cyclists. For personnel, you can find most of the showers from digital campus map on ACRE's website. For updated information, please ask talovastaava or receptionist.
For students there are shower facilities in Väre (G section, 0 floor) and in Otakaari 1 (A section, K floor). Those are also marked on campus map. It is not always possible to reserve lockers, so please be prepared to carry a change of clothes and other items with you.
Showers at Unisport are available during the opening hours (Check opening hours here.) Please note that some of the sports centres are self-service and you will need a sports card for access, which you can obtain from UniSport's customer service during opening hours. Present your staff or student card at UniSport’s service point. Lockers at the UniSport facilities can be used to store your personal effects while taking a shower, but not to store them for the entire day.
Biketti containers on campus
There are now two convenient Biketti containers on campus, offering a sheltered and secure place to store your bicycle.
The containers are located at:
- Between the Computer Science building (Konemiehentie 2) and Espilä
- Next to the eastern entrance of Maarintie 8
Together, the Biketti containers provide space for 32 bikes (16 per container). They offer protection from both weather and theft, so you can leave your bike there with peace of mind. Access to the containers is granted via access tag.
